Manager of Planning

Salary: $61,638.52 to $86,272.71
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

The Cuyahoga County Planning Commission in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking a Manager for our Planning Services Division. This is a leadership position directing a portfolio of planning studies on a municipal, county and regional level. The successful candidate will have the ability to design, manage and perform highly technical planning programs and projects, requiring consistent exercise of judgment and discretion, working independently under the general direction of the Executive Director.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in urban planning or closely related field and seven (7) years of directly applicable work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in urban planning is strongly preferred; and five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant, progressively more responsible and diverse work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage multiple, high-priority, detail-oriented activities of the Planning Services Division, which include new planning projects, initiatives and approaches. Direct the development and production of planning reports, including data collection and analysis, maps and other graphics for publication and public presentation and ensures high quality and completion in a timely manner. Supervise Planning Services staff by coordinating assignments, determining allocation of personnel on assignments, provide instruction and training, review staff work products, evaluate employee performance and maintain work standards. Advise the Executive Director on all planning-related matters. Represent the CCPC at meetings, civil and community groups and other organizations. Perform other duties as required.
