Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will have the ability to assist in a wide variety of planning studies on a municipal, county and regional level. This is an entry level position in a professional planning office.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in urban planning or closely related field and two (2) to three (3) years of directly applicable work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in urban planning or closely related field is strongly preferred with one (1) to three (3) years of directly applicable work experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist on plans, policies, programs and regulations regarding land use, economic development, transportation and the environment, at the municipal, county and regional level. Ability to collect and analyze statistical data on socio-economic trends, land use, tax base, and housing characteristics. Conduct field evaluations and assessments. Assist in the review and evaluation of land use plans, zoning ordinances and amendments, subdivision plans and plats. Ability to create graphic designs, renderings and computer graphics and to prepare maps, reports, correspondence and presentations. Assist in preparation of presentation materials for meetings. Availability to attend occasional evening meetings. Serve as a liaison providing information to public officials, citizens and clients.
