Towpath Trail Stage 3.1 Greenway: Acquisition & Restoration

Clean Ohio Award: $950,000
Acquisition Amount: 13 Acres
This project has three phases: the acquisition of 2 properties, remediation and restoration. The properties include approximately 13 acres and are located along Clark Avenue between Quigley Road and West 11th and at West 3rd and Literary Avenue. The site will be turned into a natural open green space. A key component to the Stage 3 Towpath Trail project, the site will also include a new trailhead.
Rocky River East Branch: Heron Rookery
Total Project Cost: $654,500
Clean Ohio Award: $270,070
Acquisition Amount: 28 acres
Acquisition of approximately 28 acres of category 3 wetlands, primary headwater streams, streamside forests, and floodplains in the East Branch Rocky River. This project ensures long term ecosystem integrity and services of the East Branch Rocky River, adds to Cleveland Metroparks Property and connects to the Mill Stream Run Reservation.
Tinker's Creek Corridor Preservation & Restoration
Total Project Cost: $701,128
Clean Ohio Award: $525,846
Acquisition Amount: 82 acres
Acquisition and preservation of 16 acres within the Village of Walton Hills along Tinker's Creek. This project includes activities that will restore natural function of the floodplain along sections of the Creek
Forest Ridge Preserve Expansion
Total Project Cost: $1,515,400
Clean Ohio Award: $530,390
Acquisition Amount 18 acres
Add 18 acres to the existing Forest Ridge Preserve in the Village of Moreland Hills. In addition to acquisition the Village will grant a conservation easement over the property to Western Reserve Land Conservancy to ensure preservation in perpetuity.
Sulphur Springs Headwaters Phase III Protection Project
Total Project Cost: $1,566,500
Clean Ohio Award: $860,000
Acquisition Amount 30 acres
Purchase and preserve a 30 acre property in the City of Solon, an urbanized area in the Chagrin River watershed. Acquisition of the property will preserve the habitat for many species.
West Creek Critical Conservation Linkages
Total Project Cost: $1,063,500
Clean Ohio Award: $663,500
Acquisition Amount 12.5 acres
Acquisition of two properties in the West Creek watershed. One property will add 10 acres to the West Creek Reservation and the other 2.5 acre is a critical linkage for extending the Reservation and Greenway north.
Ecologically Significant Areas along Euclid Creek
Total Project Cost: $249,000
Clean Ohio Award: $182,000
Acquisition Amount 8 acres
Acquisition of property on a tributary of the East Branch of Euclid Creek, located in the City of Richmond Heights. The project will protect streamside forests, a headwaters stream and increase habitat.
